Auckland Harbour Bridge Holiday Lane Configuration
The Auckland Harbour Bridge Moveable Lane Barrier machine will not be operating from Monday 26 December until Sunday 15 January.
This is to allow enough time for annual maintenance on Transit New Zealand's two barrier transfer machines to be completed. Work will be undertaken on one machine at a time, so that the other is available in case of emergency.
Resurfacing work is also taking place on the northbound lanes 1 and 2 (clip-on) from Monday 26 December until Sunday 8 January. During this period there are three lanes open in each direction at all times. From Monday 9 January, this will increase to four lanes in each direction until normal lane barrier movements start again on Monday 16 January.
Maintenance of the two barrier machines has been programmed to coincide with the holiday period. Transit undertook the yearly repairs to the machines at the same time last year with great success.
Based on previous year's traffic patterns Transit expects the lane configuration to cope well with traffic volumes, however motorists are encouraged to consider using the bridge before or after peak hours where possible to further minimise any disruption.
Regular traffic reports will notify motorists of any change. For more information go online at www.trafficnz.info .
