It's all on in North Shore City with Summer Fun for families in parks, the Shore Sounds summer concert series, the Devonport Food and Wine Festival and world-class spectator events such as a cycle race and sailing regatta coming up.
The Summer Fun programme, run by North Shore City's six community co-ordinators, aims to get families out enjoying themselves at their local park, reserve or on the beach. Innovative play equipment is provided and organised programmes and events include toddler mornings, fun runs, a garden party, teddy bears' picnic and athletics.
On December 17 top cyclists including Sarah Ulmer will take to the streets of Takapuna for the Lion Foundation NZ Criterium Championships. It's a short-circuit race with plenty of action expected.
North Shore City's free summer concert series, Shore Sounds, kicks off at parks, beaches and reserves around the city in mid-January. There are 17 concerts with a range of music from jazz and rhythm and blues to latin, pop and rock.
February is the time for the Devonport Food and Wine Festival in association with Columbard. This is the first year North Shore City has lent its support to the event, which is held annually in the lifestyle city.
Also in February, Laser yachts will take to Lake Pupuke during the Oki 24-hour race. Olympic and Team New Zealand sailors will feature at the helm of the speedy boats.
