Wishing You An ‘Aqua Christmas’ in the Park
Manukau City Council’s Leisure Services is running a special programme to complement the Manurewa Families Christmas in the Park this year, with an afternoon of aquatic activities at Manurewa Aquatic Centre Ngaa mahi a Rehia, on the afternoon of Saturday 10 December.
The programme will run from 2pm – 6pm and includes:
- aqua jogging class 2pm - 2.45pm, Lap Pool;
- aqua run, 2pm – 4pm, Leisure Pool;
- water races and games, 3pm – 4pm, Leisure Pool;
- kayaking, 4pm – 5pm, Lap Pool; and
- underwater rugby, 5pm – 6pm, Lap Pool.
Craig Rouse, Manager of the Manurewa Aquatic Centre, says, “Families can enjoy the festivities of Christmas in the Park at Manurewa Rugby Club grounds, where there will be a huge sausage sizzle, bands, dancers, choirs, giveaways and other activities. They can then come along to the pool for some fun and to cool off. In the evening there will be an emphasis on the nativity and carols from 8pm – 9pm.
“The ‘Let’s Beat Diabetes’ message will be promoted in the ‘crowd aerobics’ at the Park and that will be echoed in our aquatics programme which is all about expending energy and getting fit, whilst having lots of fun. We hope to see heaps of young people taking part.
“The Splashes Café at the Centre is now operating and will be open on the night until 6.45pm with a range of goodies to choose from.
“Manurewa residents now have choice of indoor or outdoor pools with Totara Park Pool open from Saturday 3rd December for the summer.”
