David Given - Botanical Services Curator
Christchurch City Council and the scientific community have lost one of their most important contributors to ecology and plant science with the passing of Dr David Given, last night. Dr Given, who died after a short illness, was recognised nationally and internationally for his work.
The Council would like to pay tribute to the contribution he made during his time as Botanical Services Curator, particularly in the last year, when he wrote a large part of the draft masterplan, setting a long term vision for Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens.
David will be missed by his Botanic Gardens and Council colleagues who wish to express their sincere sympathy to his family and friends. For further information about him, see page 12 of the New Zealand Ecological Society's October newsletter at http://www.nzes.org.nz/newsletter/newsletter.html
