Huge opportunities for Papakura
The awarding of the 2011 World Cup to New Zealand has been welcomed by the Mayor of Papakura, John Robertson as “...great for New Zealand and great for Papakura.”
“This opens up a number of opportunities for our District”, said Mr Robertson. “We are perfectly located to host visitors. Our town centre will be ready. We will have a new rail station with public transport from rail placing us just 50 easy minutes from Britomart. Central Park will have been re-modeled. An Arts, Heritage and Information Centre will be complete.”
“For visiting teams, we have the infrastructure to host them well. Bruce Pulman Park will have added facilities, we have the pool and we have playing fields. We would be a perfect base for a visiting team.
“This is only five years away. It provides a date for us to focus on as we undertake key public works that add value to our District”, said John Robertson.
