Design Competition Offers Cash Prize
A design competition organized by the Warkworth Community Centre Advisory Group and the Rodney District Council is giving Rodney designers an opportunity to create the new logo for a proposed community centre on Baxter Street Warkworth.
The competition, which is open to all Rodney residents, offers a prize of $750 for the winning entry.
The council's arts advisor Sarah Dugdale says the logo will be an important and highly visible component in an ongoing branding process for the centre, and will assist in the identification and promotion of an exciting community project for Warkworth and Rodney District.
The logo must be suitable for use on all printed material such as letterheads, business cards and banners, as well as providing a distinctive and attractive attachment to the building's façade, she says.
Sarah suggests that designers might consider the site's association with the Mahurangi River, the Kowhai flower and water fowl which are all elements featured on the grille of the adjacent service centre.
Designers wishing to enter must register and receive a design brief available from the council. Contact Sarah Dugdale on sdugdale@rodney.govt.nz or by phone on 09 427 3271 for details.
The competition closes 9 December 2005.
