Aerobatic Training Camp at Ohakea
Aerobatics teams from all over New Zealand will gather at RNZAF Base Ohakea this weekend for an Aerobatic Display and Formation training camp.
Hosted by the Air Force’s aerobatic display team, the Red Checkers, the camp will provide a forum to discuss and practice a range of aerobatic activities.
Up to twenty civil aircraft and fifty civil pilots will attend the event with participants from the NZ Warbirds Association, Omaka Fighter Collection and various aero clubs. The Civil Aviation Authority has also been consulted.
It is hoped the training camp will lead to a higher standard of displays by both civil and military pilots.
Activities over the weekend will include lectures and aerobatic flights in local training areas and over the Ohakea airfield.
The Red Checkers will practice over the airfield on both days.
