New lane layout for Esmonde Road/Akoranga Drive off-ramp
As part of ongoing upgrade of the Esmonde Road Interchange, further changes to the Akoranga Drive/Esmonde Road off-ramp will take place overnight on Monday 31 October 2005. The interchange is being upgraded as part of the construction of the Northern Busway project that will provide an 8km dedicated two-lane busway between Esmonde Road and Constellation Drive by the end of 2007.
From the morning of Tuesday 1 November, the current westbound diversion to Akoranga Drive from the Esmonde Road off-ramp will be closed. A new, permanent single lane westbound diversion will open closer to the beginning of the Esmonde Road off-ramp.
This new off-ramp will not affect traffic travelling east towards Esmonde Road.
Transit New Zealand’s Northern Busway Project Director, Clive Fuhr, says motorists should ensure they are in the correct lanes when using the Akoranga Drive/Esmonde Road off-ramp. “Motorists heading west to Akoranga Drive will need to be in the left lane when using this exit,” he explains.
