Ambury Farm Day: Farm fun for all the family!
12 October 2005
It’s that time of year again when Ambury Regional Park throws open its gates and invites one and all to experience life
‘down on the farm’.
The annual Ambury Farm Day, on Sunday 16 October at Ambury Regional Park, brings a touch of country to the big smoke and
gives city folk the chance to try their hand at a range of fabulous and fun farm activities.
As well as traditional farm action such as sheep shearing, mustering and handling, cow milking, Ambury Farm Day will
also feature pony rides, wood chopping competitions, face painting and a hay maze.
The Ambury Farm Day gives all Aucklanders a chance to experience farm life up close. It is a family event with
entertainment, live music, a range of interactive demonstrations and displays and the chance to experience some
interesting aspects of farming.
One of 22 regional parks run by the Auckland Regional Council, Ambury Regional Park is a working farm with a variety of
cattle and sheep as well as pet lambs, goats, chickens, pigs, horses, chickens, turkeys, rabbits and peacocks.
Located on the shores of the Manukau Harbour, the park is home for up to 86 bird species and has a new interpretation
trail around the foreshore.
Ambury Regional Park is located on Ambury Road in Mangere.
To get there from the west or north, exit the airport motorway at Mangere Bridge and follow signs from Mangere Bridge
township. From the east or south, take the Coronation Rd exit off the airport motorway and follow signs from Miller
Road.
Ambury Farm Day is free of charge and gates open from 10am to 4pm.
Dogs are not permitted at Ambury Regional Park because of the danger to native birds and farm animals.
