Traffic delays can be expected overnight during October and November on Auckland Harbour Bridge
Transit New Zealand advises Auckland motorists to expect some delays to motorway traffic overnight on the Auckland
Harbour Bridge (AHB) during October and November when the centre four lanes are resealed. The works were scheduled to
begin on Sunday 2 October but were delayed due to adverse weather.
The resealing project will be carried out from Sunday 9 October to Wednesday 30 November between 9.00pm - 5.30am,
weather permitting. During these times, the centre four lanes of the bridge will be closed to traffic which will have to
use the clip-on lanes. The Curran Street on-ramp will also be closed overnight.
Transit Regional Manager, Richard Hancy says the resealing, essential to the upkeep of the Harbour Bridge, has been
scheduled for the least busy time of the day to minimise inconvenience to the public.
"Going by previous resurfacing campaigns, we are confident that the Harbour Bridge resealing will cause minimum
disruption," he says. "Provided people are aware of the closures and take alternative routes where they can, traffic
should keep flowing."
Transit will be reminding drivers of the closures with advertising and community notices, as well as signage on the
motorways and near the bridge. There will also be a free call number kept updated (0800 RESEAL).
