A day of fun with a serious purpose.

A day of fun with a serious purpose.
That is the promise for Saturday 1st October at the Stanmore Bay Reserve when the Rodney District’s dogs and owners get together for “walkies” on behalf of the Whangaparaoa Hospice building fund.
The dog walk, which will go the length of Stanmore Bay beach, will raise funds for construction of the new building for Hospice on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
Organiser Jill Parsons admits that she has no idea how many dogs and their owners will turn up – this is the one of the first events of its type in New Zealand but she is hoping for a big crowd turn-up in support of a worthy cause.
Donations will be collected during the walk.
Although the day is primarily for dogs (and their owners) there will be plenty for the whole family. Jill Parsons says that there will be lots of spot prizes, “doggie bags” of gifts, and fun activities for kids.
The walkies start at 11 am at Stanmore Bay Reserve on the Whangaparaoa peninsula.
Pre-event donations for the Hospice fund can be sent to Friends of Hospice, P O Box 631, Whangaparaoa.
The event is supported by the Rodney District Council
