CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 20 August until Thursday 25 August
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction
upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 1
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 21 & Monday 22 August – CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 4am the following morning:
All southbound lanes on the Southern Motorway between Cook St off-ramp and Khyber Pass on-ramp closed
Ramp and link closures:
Sunday 21 & Monday 22 August – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 5.30am the following morning:
Hobson St on-ramp (SH1 southbound)
Symonds St on-ramp (SH1 southbound)
Port on-ramp (SH1 southbound)
Wellesley St on-ramp (SH1 southbound)
Sunday 21 & Monday 22 August – CLOSED – overnight from 10pm until 5.30am the following morning:
Port off-ramp (SH16 portbound)
Wellesley St off-ramp (SH16 citybound)
Northwestern motorway to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Saturday 20 August – CLOSED – during the day and overnight from 7am until 5am on Monday:
Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound) link
Sunday 21 August – CLOSED – during the day and overnight from 6am until 5.30am on Monday:
Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound) link
Sunday 21 until Thursday 25 August – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5.30am the following morning:

Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound) link
Western Springs on-ramp eastbound to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
Note 1: That on the nights that the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp is closed the Northwestern
Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp will remain open and vice versa.
Note 2: That on the nights that the Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound link is closed the Newton Rd on-ramp
to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) will remain open and vice versa.
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of
motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
