Manawa Karioi Native Forest Restoration Project Working Bee Sunday August 14thth.
That's right, there's another working bee this Sunday, August 14th. We got a lot achieved at last months working bee due
to a good turnout and good weather. We have a couple of short stretches of track to finish planting along and a few gaps
to fill. Being mid-winter, it is likely to be cold and windy, so bring warm clothes and adequate rainwear. Please bring
a packed lunch too.
Schedule for the day is the same as last time:
10am onwards. Meet at the plant nursery for weeding and potting up session. If there are enough people some will go off
to do some planting on a section of track nearby.
12pm-ish. Lunch in the marae buildings. Bring some food to eat/share with others.
1pm. Depart the plant nursery to do planting on the main loop road that runs through the forest restoration land. The
area to be planted is about 500m from the main buildings and is fairly well sheltered along most of the section we are
working on, but make sure you have a rain coat.
How to get there.
The Manawa Karioi native forest restoration project is located on land owned by Tapu Teranga marae in Island Bay. To get
there, turn off Adelaide Road onto Dee St (near the Caltex) and then left onto Eden, then right onto Danube St. Tapu
Teranga marae is the signposted driveway at the end of Danube St. The plant nursery is located on the left about 150
metres from the road. We hope to see you there!
