CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 6 August until Thursday 11 August
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 7 until Thursday 11 August - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5.30am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp
. Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Nelson Street off-ramp and Wellington Street on-ramp
Ramp and link closures:
Sunday 7 August - CLOSED - during the day and overnight from 6am until 5.30am on Monday:
. Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16 westbound) link
Sunday 7 until Thursday 11 August - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5.30am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1 to Nelson St off-ramp) citybound
. Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 westbound) link
. Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16 westbound) link
. Newton Rd on-ramp westbound to Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
. Northwestern Motorway to the Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1 southbound) link
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound
. Northwestern Motorway to Port (SH16) port-bound link
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp citybound
. Western Springs on-ramp eastbound to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
Sunday 7 until Thursday 11 August - CLOSED - overnight from 11pm until 5.30am the following morning:
. Hobson St on-ramp westbound to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
Note 1: On the nights that the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp is closed the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp will remain open and vice versa.
Note 2: On the nights that the Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound link is closed the Newton Rd on-ramp to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) will remain open and vice versa.
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.

9.00am - 4.30pm, Saturday 10:00am - 12:00pm and the first Sunday of each month 10:00am - 12:00pm.
