Auditor-General’s Report On City-Wide Publication
Manukau City Council has received a report from the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) in response to complaints lodged regarding the process followed in considering the proposed City-wide publication.
The report confirms that Council Officers acted in good faith, but indicates that more clarity could have been provided, especially in the early stages of consideration.
“It must be remembered that this was an extraordinary set of circumstances”, said Deputy Mayor Anne Candy. “I am confident Council has learnt from this unique experience and I look forward to the implementation of the specific recommendations contained in the OAG report.
“While the process has received a considerable amount of attention and been the subject of a significant amount of speculation and debate, Council has generally agreed the concept of such a publication has great merit.
“Now that the concerns expressed by the complainants via the Office of the Auditor-General have been fully addressed, we look forward to moving on and providing the residents and ratepayers of Manukau with factual information about developments and issues in their City”, Deputy Mayor Anne Candy said.
