Council Parking Fees To Rise
Hutt City Council will increase paid parking fees around the city from Monday 15 August.
One and two hour maximum time limit parking meters and Pay & Display fees will increase from $1.20 per hour to $1.50 per hour.
All day parking areas the fee increases to $5.00 all day with the exception of the Riverbank Car Park, which will be $3.00 all day and the east end of Myrtle Street which will be $2.50 all day.
Council Communications Manager Kirk MacGibbon said that Council derives its income exclusively from rates and fees and charges.
"A small increase in these parking fees contributes to overall council revenue and reduces the direct burden on ratepayers."
"It's also worth noting that at $1.50 an hour, parking in Hutt City still represents excellent value when compared to the up to $4 an hour paid by shoppers in Wellington's CBD.
