Back door holds key to new programmes at Clendon
With Clendon community centre's Term 3 programme of activities for kids starting in August, Manukau City Council wishes to advise all users to access the centre through the back door rather than the front entrance. The front entrance, facing onto Palmers Road, is currently closed as construction work to create a new library on the site continues.
With the new car park now complete, the back door provides better access than previously. The car park also has a new drop-off/pick-up point, which will benefit families using the centre's childcare services, and new lighting will soon be installed for those visiting the centre during the evening.
Centre manager, Glenis Ruthe says,
"We want to make sure no one misses out on any of our activities or services because the front entrance is temporarily closed. We will give regular updates on how the construction process affects access to the centre."
"Everyone we speak to is very excited about the fusion of the community centre and the library, which will create a real focal point for the community. All our users know any temporary inconvenience will be worth it."
The Term 3 activity programme for kids starts on Monday, 1 August and continues for eight weeks with a range of sports and gymnastics.
* Mondays: pre-school gymnastics
* Tuesdays: Kiwee Kidz multi-sports (soccer, touch, basketball or unihockey)
* Wednesdays: Junior Basketball competitions
* Thursdays: after school gymnastics
Contact the community centre on 266 1100 for more information.
