Anzco/Affco Agreement Great News for Waitara
News that that an agreement has been reached regarding Affco’s former site in Waitara is great news for the town, says Mayor Peter Tennent.
“The flow-on effects from this plant will be huge for the Taranaki economy, and for Waitara residents,” says the Mayor.
“Anzco and Affco should be congratulated for sitting around the table and talking until an agreement had been reached. It took a lot of work to reach common ground, but they kept at it until they found a solution.”
Mayor Pete says with Anzco’s plant opening up in the near future, the council’s landscape developments such as West Quay and Marine Park, and a number of home-grown social initiatives, Waitara is leading the way in New Plymouth District.
“Waitara has made huge strides in its development over the last decade, with a community that has pursued numerous projects to strengthen the town’s identity and the future of its residents.
“Now the residents are getting a significant payoff with a large company showing its faith in Waitara by opening up a plant there, which will bring with it immense economic and social benefits. The town is pumping, which is great to see!” he says.
