Register your dog now and save
Over 7000 Auckland dogs have been registered with Auckland City Council so far, meaning their owners have avoided paying
late fees by registering before the 1 August due date.
“This is an encouraging figure and a better rate than expected,” says Geoff Atherfold, Auckland City’s team leader of
regulatory services.
By registering before 1 August they have also gone into the draw to win one of five $200 Westfield vouchers and avoid
the $300 infringement fee for failing to register their dog.
The owners of previously registered dogs should have received a registration pack in the mail but if they have not, and
there are no changes to the dog’s details or the owner’s details, they can pay online through Auckland City’s website.
Online registration makes dog registration accessible anytime from anywhere and frees up the time of dog owners so they
can spend more time doing what dog owners do - walking their dogs.
Registration forms can also be downloaded from the Auckland City website or requested by ringing Auckland City on (09)
379 2020.
A reduced fee is offered to owners who have obtained a dog owner licence and also for dogs that have been neutered.
Dog owners are required to register all dogs over the age of three months. Registration enables Auckland City to monitor
safety in the community and to return lost dogs to their owners.

Class G Dangerous dog Under section 32(1)(e) of the Dog Control Act 1996, owners of dangerous dogs must pay 150 per
cent of the standard dog owner registration fee.
