No Decision Made On Waste Water User Pays Charges - Wcc Meeting 29th June
The Waitakere City Council meeting was addressed by Anna Lee president of the Primary Teachers Union (NZEI) West Auckland Branch and Meredydd Barrar spokesperson CAP
Anna Lee pointed out that schools will be further penalised by user pays for waste water, and also read out a letter from the principal of Titirangi School to Bob Harvey clearly pointing out schools' concerns.
CAP Spokesperson Meredydd Barrar said:
"WCC counsellors are well aware of the regressive nature of user pays, but are allowing themselves to be led by the nose by politically driven officials towards these anti-social charges. CAP believes that any politician that votes for users pays for waste water in the future will be committing political suicide".
"Its time this council listened to its community and became positive not punitive. Tens of thousands of submitters have demanded that water user charges be abandoned and put back into the rates. Why can't rates rebates be given back to successful conservers of water?"
