Country Burglars apprehended after chase by farmers
At about 8pm on 30/6/05 a farmer near Rakaia, South Canterbury disturbed a group of individuals on his property taking fuel. They left in a car and were followed by the farmer and a neighbour in separate cars.
Police were called and attended from Rakaia, Ashburton and Christchurch.
The farmer kept in contact by cell phone and was able to keep police updated as to their whereabouts and direction of travel.
As a result police were able to converge on the offending vehicle which had travelled towards the coast using various back roads.
The offending vehicle was stopped by Police without incident and currently six peeople are being spoken to. Charges are likely.
