Christchurch City Council confirms its 2005/06 Annual Plan
Christchurch City Council has today (Thursday, 30 June) finalised its Annual Plan for the 2005/06 year.
The plan, for the 12 months from 1 July, follows closely the commitments made in last year's 2004-14 Long-Term Council
Community Plan. To maintain the levels of service set out in that long-term plan, the 2005/06 Plan requires an increase
in the total rates take of 3.49 per cent.
It means an average city residence, worth a little under $260,000, will attract a rates bill of $1080 - about $21 a
week.
The draft document was made available for public comment from 11 April until 13 May. The Council received nearly 200
submissions and held public meetings earlier this month to consider these and to discuss the draft plan.
At this morning's meeting of the City Council, Mayor Garry Moore said many of the topics raised by submitters would be
considered by the Council as part of the work it has planned over coming months to review and produce a new long-term
community plan.
