Extreme Outdoor Adventures For Teens Looking For Holiday Fun!
Manukau City Council’s ‘Manukau OnThe Move’ team have organised another fun packed school holiday break for teens, with
plenty of outdoor action laced with thrills and spills.
Their one week Teen Extreme programme offers a range of outdoor adventure pursuits for 12 to 16 year olds, running from
Monday 11 July to Friday 15 July. Participants can select which days they want to attend or, for the really energetic,
take part in the whole week!
Programme co-ordinator, Ian McLeod says, “This programme will suit enthusiastic teenagers who are keen to take up the
challenge of a range of activities throughout the week. These include mountain biking, caving, tree adventures, an
amazing race and an x-treme day!
“Monday sees teens embarking on an Amazing Race around Auckland, solving the clues and racing the clock in our biggest
race ever; participants can explore the Nikau Caves on Tuesday in their old warm clothes and shoes, and they’ll need a
change of clothes as they will get dirty; mountain biking with lots of thrills and spills will be the activity for
Wednesday, bring your own bike or hire one for $10.
“On Thursday experience an X-Treme Day with indoor climbing, extreme indoor soccer, baseball like you’ve never seen it
before and a new spin on some old games – see if you are extreme enough. Participants will round the week off at
Woodhill Forest by testing their skills with ‘Tree Adventures’, Auckland’s newest high ropes course - the only one of
its type in New Zealand. The course includes eight massive flying foxes which will test your tree surfing skills!”
All specialist equipment, apart from bikes, is provided and qualified instructors are on hand. Pick up and drop off
points are Howick Recreation Centre and Alan Brewster Recreation Centre at Papatoetoe. Cost is $42 per day or $195 for
the whole week. Interested teens should phone 274 6904 for more information and registration details.
