Grey District Council Astonishingly Ignorant About Fluoridation Chemicals
Enquiries Made to the Grey District Council about the composition of the material to be used to fluoridate public water
supplies have revealed that the council management have no idea what it is comprised of, according to the Democrats'
Canterbury/Westland health spokesman David Tranter.
On 15 June the council's spokesman on fluoridation, Peter McConnell, replied to my enquiry about their chosen
fluoridating material with a two-line description referring to "45.2%of the powder" followed by saying, "Please contact
the supplier Orica NZ for the chemical composition of the remainder of the powder".
Replying to my subsequent request to confirm that the council do not in fact know the complete composition of the
fluoridating material they propose to use, Mr. McConnell gave a two-line explanation about the manufacturing process and
then stated, "I would imagine the remainder of the powder is salt but will have to confirm that with Orica."
I have heard nothing further from them since, Mr. Tranter said.
Mr. McConnell’s staggering admission – made weeks after the council endorsed the proposal to fluoridate Grey District
public water supplies – highlights the absurdity of the process by which district councillors are being duped into
endorsing an agenda which flies in the face of the facts whilst also breaking every possible code concerning people’s
fundamental right to choose what they put into their own bodies and those of their children.
It is imperative that before district councils are confronted with further misleading Health Ministry-driven DHB
propaganda, councillors are made aware of what is involved including the presence in fluoridating chemicals of the heavy
metals Antimony , Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, Nickel, Selenium - quite a cocktail, Mr. Tranter said, especially
when it is understood that no-one checks the so-called “allowable” limits specified for them in fluoridating material.
Given that Grey Council management are so appallingly ignorant about fluoridating materials, the Democrat Party calls on
the councillors who voted for fluoridation to follow the lead of the Westland District Council and to reject this
ill-advised agenda which also contravenes people's right to choose as specified under section 7 of the Health and
Disability Commissioner's Code of Health Consumers' Rights.
Ends.
