New look for Albany Village

Work will begin this month on a $1m upgrade of the Albany Village main street along SH 17 from Oteha Valley Rd to the
Lucas Creek Bridge.
Co-ordinated by the North Shore City Council, the upgrade has been planned over the last five years, with involvement
from the Albany Energy Group, Albany Business Association, Albany Community Board, Albany Village Hall Committee and
Transit New Zealand.
The upgrade includes the new Albany Village logo, the rooster. The logo will be a feature of new street lighting running
through the main street. Other new features include:
* New cobblestone footpaths * New seating and litter bins * A new bus stop with two bus shelters * Additional parking
areas and the realignment of the existing kerb to improve parking * Traffic islands * Landscaping and planting,
including trees.
"The improvements retain and enhance the village character that makes Albany Village unique. The upgrade will have a
positive impact on public safety, and it's very exciting to see the new logo incorporated into the design," says North
Shore City councillor and local resident, Margaret Miles.
The upgrade is expected to take three months, and there may be some disruption to traffic and pedestrians.
