The Auckland Regional Council seeks environmentally aware Aucklanders to apply to its Environmental Initiatives Fund (EIF).
The Auckland Regional Council’s 2005 Environmental Initiatives Fund (EIF) is now open for applications with over $500,000 available for community environmental projects.
ARC Deputy Chair Christine Rose says the fund is open to local groups, iwi, schools and individuals undertaking not-for-profit practical projects that enhance, restore and protect Auckland’s natural, cultural and physical environment.
“Auckland’s biodiversity and habitats are important and valued, but ARC acknowledges sometimes grass-roots initiatives need help,” says Cr Rose.
“Some examples of projects funded in the past include riparian fencing and planting, pest and weed eradication and control, wetland restoration, native planting, and environmental education projects,” she says.
“To ensure communities succeed with their projects, ARC staff will provide support and advice to all funded projects.”
Applications for the 2005 funding round close on 1 August 2005.
Since the first funding round in February 2000, 345 applicants have been successful in receiving funding for their projects.
For a list of the EIF priority areas, and to apply phone the ARC on 09 366 2000 or download the guidelines and application form from: www.arc.govt.nz/arc/environment/funding
