District plan discussion paper out for feedback
Consultation is well underway for the review of the Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan.
Following several weeks of discussions and meetings Auckland City has prepared and released an issues paper for the review of the plan and copies of this document are now available.
“This document has been prepared by council officers from a range of sources including residents and visitors to the island, Auckland City staff knowledge, as well as community and stakeholder groups,” says Karen Bell, Auckland City manager of isthmus and islands.
The document includes more than 50 separate issues relating to the current district plan and offers a range of alternative approaches to be considered in the development of the reviewed plan.
“The list of issues and the various approaches is not exhaustive,” says Ms Bell. “We hope that it is a good starting point to stimulate discussion and encourage feedback and further input into the review process.”
Over the next few weeks Auckland City staff, the review working party and community board members will be hosting a range of meetings, including some not previously mentioned.
“We encourage your attendance at these meetings to ask questions and make suggestions about the issue and approach to the plan,” says Ms Bell. “Your input now will help to shape the plan for the future.”
