Final V8 submission figures released
Wellington City Council has today released the final results of the public consultation on the proposal to host a V8 Supercar race in Wellington City.
The total number of submissions received was 11,890 - a Wellington City Council record for public consultation.
Final results include:
- Total number of people who support the race is 76 percent
- Fifty five percent of Wellington City residents support the race
Council Chief Executive Garry Poole says these breakdowns differ from the interim results, which were based on the submissions received as of Friday 15 April.
“The figures and the breakdown of results we released were interim - as we received a big final delivery of about 1500 submissions on Monday 18 April - when the consultation period closed.
“The vast majority of this final wave of submissions were from Wellington City residents opposed to the race, so that has changed the final breakdown of people for and against the race.”
Copies of the submissions are available for to the public to view in folders in the City Service Centre on the ground floor of the Wellington City Council offices at 101 Wakefield Street.
A detailed analysis of the content of submissions will be included in a report on the V8 Supercar proposal that will be voted on by the Wellington City Council on 17 May.
