Ellerslie to focus on the future
A photographic competition will make up part of the community consultation on the future of Ellerslie.
The launch of initial Auckland City consultation to develop a vision for Ellerslie's future, will take place at the
Ellerslie War Memorial Hall on Wednesday 11 May at 7pm. All interested members of the public and media are welcome to
attend.
“The development of this framework is an opportunity for the entire Ellerslie community to work with Auckland City to
put in place mechanisms to deal with the challenges facing Ellerslie and to provide a focus to ensure Ellerslie achieves
its aspirations," says Councillor Dr Bruce Hucker, chairperson of Auckland City Council's Urban Strategy and Governance
Committee.
A short presentation from council staff on the intention and process of developing Ellerslie's future framework, a
liveable community plan, will be followed by the first opportunity for the community to contribute their thoughts.
Community input will help develop a framework that outlines a comprehensive approach to enhancing the liveability of the
community and managing future growth to achieve local benefits. The exact approach differs from area to area and
reflects different community and cultural needs.
After the launch, Auckland City is holding open days at 115 Main Highway, next to Ellerslie Jewellers, at the following
times: Thursday 12 May, 10 am to 4 pm Friday 13, 20 and 27 May, 10 am to 4 pm Saturday 14 and 21 May, 11 am to 3 pm
Wednesday 18 and 25 May, 10 am to 4 pm Thursday 19 and 26 May, 4 pm to 7 pm

Focus groups will follow the open days in June and Auckland City will attend the Ellerslie Community Expo on 18 June.
The details of the photo competition will be announced at the launch. The photo competition aims to encourage the
community to think about Ellerslie and what it means for them. The competition closes on 6 June. The winners will be
announced, with winning photos on display, at the Auckland City stand at the Ellerslie Community Expo on 18 June.
