New citywide publication for Manukau
The decision by Manukau City Council's Strategic Directions Committee to support a new city-wide publication means Manukau City residents will soon be receiving a fortnightly publication of council news and local events.
The eight page publication proposed by the Vibrant and Strong Committee of Tomorrow's Manukau - Manukau Apopo, will be called 'Manukau - the experience' and is a similar concept to Auckland City Council's 'City Scene'. It will be delivered to every residential letterbox in the city.
Councillor Colleen Brown, Chair of the Strategic Directions Committee says, "The publication will be a celebration of the city's vibrancy, diversity and the opportunities provided to Manukau residents.
"Residents will be kept informed of local events; decisions made by their council, and invited to participate in the decision-making process. Hopefully this will mean they have a greater understanding of the role council and community boards play in their lives.
"The publication will have strict editorial guidelines with no political agenda or bias apart from promoting the city as a vibrant and diverse place to live, work and play," says Councillor Brown.
Funding will be provided by Council through a redistribution of current funding for public notices and other relevant Council advertisements.
