Time running out to comment on Heathcote River vision
There are just nine days left for Christchurch residents to give their views on a vision, being prepared by the
Christchurch City Council, for a 6km stretch of the Heathcote River. Submissions close on Friday 22 April.
The vision document that will be produced by the Council will focus on the river and its surroundings from Colombo St to
Hansen Park. Once this has been done the Council will be able to develop a long term plan for the area including
landscaping, tree planting, beautifying the closed section of Hunter Tce and changes that need to be made to meet future
demands. Some of this work including tree planting will start next year.
“We have had some good feedback so far on the vision with a total of about 200 people turning out to a series of public
meetings in the area. Electronic and written submissions are still coming in,” Council project manager John de Zwart
said.
