CMJ Traffic Bulletin: Saturday 9 April Until Thursday 14 April
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 10 April – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 6am on Monday:
• Southern Motorway (SH1 southbound) between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp
• Hobson St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway ( SH16)
Monday 11 until Thursday 14 April – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 6am the following morning:
• Southern Motorway (SH1 southbound) between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp
• Southern Motorway (SH1 northbound) between Nelson St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp.
Ramp and link closures:
Sunday 10 April – CLOSED – during the day and overnight from 6am until 6am on Monday:
• Port to Northwestern Motorway Link (SH16)
Monday 11 until Thursday 14 April – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 6am the following morning:
• Port to Northwestern Motorway Link (SH16 westbound)
• Southern Motorway (SH1) to Nelson St off-ramp
• Hobson St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
• Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.

9.00am – 4.30pm, Saturday 10:00am – 12:00pm and the first Sunday of each month 10:00am – 12:00pm.
