Newmarket banner trial flies until March 2007
Cross street banners will continue to fly over Newmarket streets until at least March 2007 following a recommendation from Auckland City’s Planning and Regulatory Committee.
The committee confirmed the continuation of a trial of commercial advertising on cross street banners in Newmarket, which began in March 2004, under the current terms until the Urban Design Strategy is completed and implemented.
“We hope that this extended trial will ensure that there is a balance achieved in the use of cross street banners in Newmarket,” says Councillor Glenda fryer, chair of the Planning and Regulatory Committee. “There are valid arguments for and against the use of banners and the committee would like to hear all views on their use following this extended trial.”
Feedback on the banner trial can be sent to Helen Pengelly of the Newmarket Business Association, at helen@newmarket.net.nz.
