Police Report Bus-Driver Robbed
Just after 9pm on Monday March 7 a Bus driver dropped of his last passenger for the night on The Avenue/Lynfield, Waitakere City. The bus stop is adjacent to the Lynfield reserve and there was a lot of pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic at the time.
Two offenders then entered the bus, they are described as being male Maoris or Polynesians aged between 16-18years wearing dark, hooded sweat tops with the monograms possibly New York on their chests.
Whilst one offender grabbed the bus cash tray the other tackled the driver to the ground before both fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
The driver who was not seriously hurt tried unsuccessfully to attract the attention of two asian females walking by.
A man walking his dog was also in the area.Police are appealing to the above persons and any other member of the public with any information re the robbery, to contact the Auckland Central Crime Squad. Ph 09 302 6400
