Sign To Save The Park
Belmont Regional Park, the beautiful open landscape between Lower Hutt and Porirua, is at risk. Landcorp, which owns the bulk of the park, is considering selling the land on the open market which would mean subdivisions and houses all over the hills. The park can only be saved if current talks between Landcorp and Greater Wellington Regional Council succeed in reaching some agreement..
The Friends of Belmont Regional Park today launched a petition asking the regional council to secure this land into public ownership.
“ We need thousands of signatures to show the council how many people love this park and do not want it destroyed “ said Richard Sadleir, convenor of the Friends., today .”
We ask everyone with an interest in Belmont Regional Park to sign our petition before the end of March . If you want your children and grandchildren to enjoy tramps in the park, please sign “ Sadleir said.
