Beach Blast (22 Jan) gives children a chance to try beach activities
Christchurch City Council¡¯s Beach Blast (Saturday, 22 January 2005 from 11am¨C2pm at North Beach Surf Life Saving Club,
Marine Parade) is a free community event for children aged from 7¨C12 years with the aim of providing a variety of beach
activities to try.
The activities include surfing, boogie boarding, beach flags, sprints and volleyball. Also featured will be a sand
castle competition and lifesaving and rescue boat demonstrations by members of the surf life saving club. People can
bring a picnic lunch or enjoy the free Hellers sausage sizzle.
This SummerTimes event is being run in partnership with North Beach Surf Life Saving Club and North Wai Boardriders
Club, and is supported by the City Council¡¯s Burwood/Pegasus Community Board.

If it is wet on 22 January, the event will be held the following weekend, on Saturday 29 January from 10am¨C1pm. Any
postponement notice will be carried on Newstalk ZB or 91ZM.
