Bike The Trail
Dust down that bike and join us on Sunday 30 January 2005 for an easy flat 2.5 hour bike ride covering 25km of the Hutt River Trail from Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt to Hikoikoi Reserve in Petone. For those looking for a shorter ride there is a 1 hour (12km) ride starting at Stokes Valley and finishing at Hikoikoi Reserve as well.
Start between 10am and 10.30am from Harcourt Park or 11am and 11.30am from Stokes Valley.
The course is flat and safe for all ability levels and is an ideal family event. Mountain bikes are advised because the majority of the Trail is unsealed. Entry is free and free transport is also available for cyclists and their bikes back to the start point from Hikoikoi Reserve at 12.30pm.
Help us plan by registering your entry in advance. Go to events at www.gw.govt.nz or one of the bike shops completing free bike safety checks and registration. These include The Cycle Centre in Upper Hutt and V.I.C. Cycles and Toyworld and Avanti Family Cycle Centre in Hutt City.
Normal safety rules apply throughout the event. An approved cycle helmet must be worn and under-14’s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or older (1 adult to 3 children).
There will be spot prizes and certificates.
