CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 18 December until Thursday 23 December
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 1
Ramp and link closures:
Saturday 18 December - CLOSED - during the day and at night from 6am until 6pm:
. Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Port off-ramp (SH16 portbound)
. Wellesley St off-ramp (SH16 citybound)
Sunday 19 December - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am on Monday:
. Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
Monday 20 December - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am on Tuesday:
. Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
Tuesday 21 December - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am on Wednesday:
. Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
. Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)
Local Road closures:
Sunday 19 December until Tuesday 21 December - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:
. Boston Rd or Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps
Ongoing motorway lane closures:
There will be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds St overbridge from Sunday through to Tuesday night. Night works will stop on Tuesday 21 December for the Christmas and New Year period, and will recommence on Wednesday 5 January 2005.
Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.
CMJ Stage 2
Ramp and link closures:
Monday 20 December until Wednesday 22 December - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning:
. Northwestern Motorway to Port (SH16 portbound)
. Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)
. Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16 westbound)
Motorists travelling on the Northwestern Motorway to or from the Port or to the South during these times are advised to follow the detours which will be fully sign-posted while the motorway closures are in place.
In the event of bad weather the closure will be postponed to the next fine evening.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
