Shady event set to be a whale of a time for New Brighton
The Christchurch City Council, its Burwood/Pegasus Community Board and the Cancer Society have jointly funded the installation of five shade sails at the whale pool in New Brighton.
To celebrate there will a be a free barbecue, clowns, spot prizes and guest speakers at the pool on Sunday, 12 December at 12pm.
Burwood/Pegasus Community Board member Glenda Burt will host the event and there will be speeches from local grandmother Karen Morgan, who first approached the Community Board with the idea for shade cover and Martin Whitt from the Cancer Society will also say a few words.
Water bottles and flying discs will be given away as spot prizes to children and the free barbecue is courtesy of Helliers.
