Enterprise Northland salutes donation to The Centre at Kerikeri
Regional economic development agency Enterprise Northland says the $1.5 million donation to The Centre at Kerikeri is “an incredible gift”.
The donation has been made by the owners of Kauri Cliffs, Julian and Josie Robertson, to help build the $7 million theatre and convention complex, which is scheduled to open in April next year.
“The Centre at Kerikeri will bring economic benefits not just to the Bay of Islands but to the wider Northland region,” said Enterprise Northland chief executive officer Brian Roberts.
“The 420-seat auditorium, which will be part of The Centre, will further strengthen Northland’s ability to attract conferences, large groups and special events.”
The Northland tourism strategy, launched last year, highlighted the potential of the conference market to attract extra business during the low and shoulder seasons.
Mr Roberts added that the construction of The Centre had been a contributing factor in Air New Zealand’s recent decision to increase its services to Kerikeri.
