Southern Motorway night closures until January 2005
Transit New Zealand advises that sections of the Southern Motorway between Upper Queen Street and Gillies Avenue will be closed at night until January 2005.
Lane and ramp closures will generally be in place from 8pm until 6am the following morning. Full motorway closures will be in place from 11pm until 4am and will generally extend: - Southbound: from Cook Street off-ramp to Khyber Pass on-ramp - Northbound: from Khyber Pass off-ramp to Wellington Street on-ramp.
Motorists are advised that there will be delays after 8pm and are recommended to use alternative routes wherever possible.
All detours will be fully signposted and closures will be advertised in the public notices in the Friday New Zealand Herald. Transit thanks motorists in advance for their cooperation. Closures are required to enable resurfacing of the Central Motorway Junction Stage 1 upgrading project. This final activity for the project will provide a high quality road surface. On completion in January 2005 the project will create extra capacity and efficiency in the central motorway area.
More details of the closures can be found at www.trafficnz.info and by phoning 0800 To Freeflow (863 733.)
