Have yourself a merry little Christmas
‘Tis almost the season to be jolly and Auckland City is celebrating the holidays by organising a series of free
Christmas festivities across Auckland.
Mercury Energy helps get Aucklanders into the festive spirit by proudly sponsoring Christmas events each year. The whole
family can enjoy the fantastic music and festive atmosphere at Carols by Candlelight concerts in Three Kings, Mt Eden,
St Heliers and Waiheke Island.
The Carols by Candlelight concert on Waiheke will be part of an all-new bumper weekend of festivities including the
Waiheke Santa Parade (Santa is swapping his sleigh for a bright red fire engine) and much more!
Christmas for Onehunga residents just wouldn’t be the same without seeing Jellicoe Park’s tree lights twinkling. The
local community turns out in force to celebrate the ‘switching on’ of the Christmas tree with carol singing, local
performing groups and Santa Claus.
For the first time, the city fringe is set to celebrate Christmas “Ponsonby style”. This distinctive neighbourhood will
be joining together to meld its artistic flair and eclectic lifestyles into a “Christmas on Ponsonby Road” party.
Avondale is spinning their own web of Christmas festivities for the new “Carols by Spiderlight event” this year.
Otahuhu’s new Christmas celebrations will be centred around the main street and Criterion Square.
Aucklanders are invited to pack a picnic and head down to the Domain for the biggest event of all – the annual Coca-Cola
Christmas in the Park on Saturday 11 December at 7.30pm.
So grab your candle, tune up your singing voice and get ready to sing your heart out!
All of these free Christmas events are provided by Auckland City as part of the Ak@Play summer events programme.
