Celebrating Christmas Manukau Style
Pacific Island families searching for a celebration of the islands during Christmas can find what they're looking for at Hayman Park on December 4 2004, when friends and neighbors share the spirit of the season and celebrate Christmas with a Pacific Island twist. The Eight hour event will start at midday and conclude at 8pm.
Also part of the event day will be the showcasing of selected Auckland Universities & local Learning Institution Performing Arts groups and the very latest emerging Hip Hop & RnB Artists and Gospel groups from different denominations. Supported by the Manukau City Council and local businesses, this event starts a new Christmas tradition within the City. Pacific in the Park is a concept developed by Pacific Mango, a Pacific Island media company that held Auckland’s first Pacific Island Education Expo - FreshED in July 2004.
Event Organiser Andrew Fiu, says that it’s time for the world’s largest Polynesian populated city to have a Christmas event that celebrates the uniqueness of the region’s diversity.
“With 1 in 4 of Manukau’s population a Pacific Islander and the Pacific culture an integral part of the fabric of the City, we need to support and acknowledge this more”.
Performing acts confirmed are growing they include Nesian Mystik, Sara Jane Auva’a, D1 Entertainment, Karamol and Triple 8 Funk.
