Rodney District Council Election Results
Rodney District has re-elected John Law for his second term as Mayor.
Provisional results for the triennial local authority elections released by Chief Executive Officer Vijaya Vaidyanath
reveal the council chosen to run the country’s fastest growing district.
Mr Law, Wainui resident and former newspaper executive, was the winner by 702 votes. He received 13,171 votes, ahead of
Puhoi resident Larry Mitchell with 12,469.
Along with the Mayor, seven of 10 councillors standing again were re-elected to serve the District until October 2007.
They are Pat Delich, Thomas Grace, Gaye Harding, Graham Powell, Bill Smith, Dave Steele and Wayne Walker.
There are five new faces on the 13-member council: Colin MacGillivray of Stanmore Bay, June Turner of Snells Beach, Grev
Walker of Helensville, John Watson of Army Bay and Penny Webster of Warkworth.
Five councillors who served during the 2001-04 term won't be around the table as District Councillors in the Orewa
chamber for the next three years. They include Christine Rose who was elected to represent Rodney on the Auckland
Regional Council and Barbara Griffin who did not seek re-election. Rob Thompson, Elizabeth Foster and John Ross were not
re-elected.

Turner, Penny Webster Western - Pat Delich, Thomas Grace, Dave Steele, Grev Walker Eastern – Gaye Harding, Colin
MacGillivray, Bill Smith, Wayne Walker, John Watson
There will be a civic ceremony on 20 October to formally install the Mayor and Councillors in office. The first meeting
of the new council is scheduled for 4 November. Voter turnout was 37 per cent of the District's 59,531 registered
