One week to go until voting closes
From this Saturday, voters have just one week to go before voting closes in the local authority elections at noon on Saturday 9 October.
Voters should remember that the elections are a postal vote and that there will not be polling booths at local schools and community centres as there are in the Parliamentary general election.
It is recommended that completed voting documents are posted back by 7 October to ensure they arrive in time.
Eligible voters who are enrolled on the electoral roll would have automatically received voting documents for the local authority elections by 22 September.
If people did not receive their voting documents, they should contact their local council electoral office immediately to make a special vote before 9 October.
Local authority elections are residents’ and ratepayers’ opportunity to choose the city or district’s mayor and councillors as well as local community board members, Auckland Regional councillors and District Health Board and Licensing Trust representatives.
