CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 25 September until Thursday 30 September
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for ongoing work as part of the Central Motorway Junction upgrade project.
Enclosed Lane Removed
Transit New Zealand advises motorists that changes will be made to the northbound lanes of the
Southern Motorway (SH1) between Gillies Ave and Grafton Rd from 6am Monday 27 September.
The enclosed lane will be removed and the northbound lanes will return to their original position.
Advance warning signs will be erected on the morning of the changes.
Wet weather will postpone changes until the next clear morning.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution and be aware there may be delays.

Sunday 26 until Tuesday 28 September– CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 4am the following morning:
· All northbound lanes over the Khyber Pass Viaduct
Detour: for northbound traffic - off at Khyber Pass off-ramp and on at Wellington St on-ramp
Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 September – CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 4am on Thursday (contingency closures):

· Either Boston Rd or Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps
Ongoing motorway lane closures:
There will be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds Street overbridge from Sunday through to Thursday nights until 2005.
Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.
CMJ Stage 2
Motorway closures for beam installation
Transit New Zealand advises that the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) Nelson St off-ramp, citybound, will be closed from 8pm through to 6am on the nights of Monday 27, Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 September for the installation of eight pre-cast concrete beams.
Detour routes will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
If required the closures will be extended to the night of Thursday 30th September.
Motorists are asked to choose alternative routes during these closures and are advised that there could be delays.
The installation of these beams is for a new viaduct being built adjacent to the Northwestern to Nelson St off-ramp. This new motorway-to-motorway connection will take northbound traffic from the Port (SH16) to the Northern Motorway (SH1).
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St .
