Orion joins search for fishing vessel
A Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) search for an overdue fishing vessel and her three crewmen has been joined by a RNZAF Orion aircraft.
The 60-foot Extreme Limits left Mana on September 12 and was due to return there on September 19.
A search began after the vessel’s concerned owner contacted Police on Tuesday evening.
The Orion will search two areas – up to 370kms west of New Plymouth and down to 370kms south of Wellington.
RCCNZ is currently trying to establish contact with the vessel, gather information on her planned voyage and use this information and the help of the Orion to find a more exact position.
