SH10 Kerikeri Crossroads Speed Reduction
Transit New Zealand will be lowering the speed limit on State Highway 10 from 100km/h to 80km/h on Thursday 9 September.
The reduced speed limit will be permanent.
The 80km/h speed limit will be effective over a 2km section of SH10 - from a point approximately 1km south of the
Kerikeri Road intersection to a point approximately 1km north of the intersection.
Transit Regional Manager, Wayne McDonald, says the speed reduction, introduced by way of an amendment to Transit's Speed
Limit Bylaw, published in the New Zealand Gazette, was decided after an extensive review and consultation with key
stakeholders in the area.
"The intersection, which has a high crash rate, must be made safer and we believe that reducing the speed limit to
80km/h will help achieve this," he says.
Motorists will be made aware of the 80km/h limit by pairs of large speed limit signs on each of the approaches to the
Kerikeri Road intersection, as well as comprehensive road treatments incorporating additional signage, road markings and
reflective road markers.
