Praise for high performing recreation partners
The Recreation and Events Committee yesterday praised the performance of five community organisations receiving annual grants from the city.
The committee extended its thanks to the ASB Stadium, Surf Lifesaving Northern Region, Sport Auckland, WaterSafe Auckland and Youthtown for their good work in the community.
Collectively these community organisations receive $339,000 annually from Auckland City for providing strategic recreation and sports services important to Auckland City residents.
The congratulatory remarks came after council officers reported on the performance of grant recipients to the committee.
“These are some of the best collective results we have had in a number of years,” says Councillor Scott Milne, chairperson of the Recreation and Events Committee.
“It’s great that we were able to help these organisations by providing some funding, but it’s even better to see the good work that is being done with it,” says Mr Milne.
“The City is proud to support them. It’s organisations like these that make good city’s great.”
