Communist League Announces Candidate For Mayor Of Auckland
The Communist League has named Felicity Coggan as its candidate for mayor of Auckland. Coggan, 48, is a sewing machinist and active union member.
“My campaign presents a revolutionary working-class stance on the issues facing working people today,” said Coggan. “We put forward a programme aimed at uniting working people across the globe to fight together to defend our rights, livelihoods, and dignity against the offensive of the wealthy capitalists who run the cities and countries we live in.
“I support the right of workers to organise and belong to unions to defend themselves from the bosses’ assaults, and oppose the war drive of imperialist powers from Wellington to Washington,” said Coggan. “I invite those interested in this campaign to join in building the kind of workers movement that can follow the example set over 45 years ago in Cuba and be part of a revolutionary struggle for a workers and farmers government”.
